A Call for Nominations

29-Apr-2020 10:18 AM | Anonymous

The National Family Association for Deaf-Blind has open positions on its Board of Directors.  We are looking for people who have family members of any age who are deaf-blind, are professionals in the field, or individuals who are committed to our mission. In addition to General Board positions, the Executive Committee positions of President and Treasurer are up for re-election this year.  Only current or past board members may run for these two Executive Committee positions.  An elected term lasts for two years with the opportunity to run for one position for up to 3 consecutive 2-year terms (6 years).

NFADB is the largest national network of families focusing on issues surrounding deaf-blindness. NFADB exists to empower the voices of families with individuals who are deaf-blind and to advocate for their unique needs.  A board member can come from any state, and will collaborate with other professional organizations.  Board members will participate on working committees and will help to expand our Affiliate Network.  We are looking for serious candidates that can help our organization make a difference in the lives of families living with deaf-blindness.  NFADB is especially interested in board members who have specific skill sets.  If you possess one or more of these skills and interests, please consider running for a board member position: advocacy, leadership, fundraising, grant writing, social media and technology. The NFADB board is committed to increasing family engagement and promoting the use of individual supports across the lifespan for people who are deaf-blind.

For more information or to nominate yourself or someone you know for the position of Board Member, please contact Diana Griffen at diana@nfadb.org or at 610-594-0648.  An application will be sent to candidates, which requires three letters of recommendation, and is due by May 31. Applicants are asked to participate in a telephone interview. The appointments will be made in July, for positions beginning on October 1. Thank you for your interest and for your continued support of the National Family Association for Deaf-Blind.
